RPG Applications Developer III - IT Development
The Developer provides system analysis, design, and development of RPG/Free and SQLRPGLE programs in an IBM iSeries environment utilizing DB2 databases. The Developer will adhere to Estes’ best practices, standards, measures, and metrics for the Solutions Delivery Department. This position will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to construct loosely coupled applications, utilizing a service-oriented architecture.
Analyze designs, develop, implement, document and maintain application systems, working on highly complex work tasks or project assignments.
Manage tasks, establish timeliness and prioritize work designs, develop to specifications and maintain application code in accordance with the current architecture, development and project management methodologies and practices.
Consult with Quality Assurance and the business analysts in the development and execution of test plans.
Participate in regular team meetings Work alone or along-side other team members to complete development of the design
Accountable for creation of applicable SDLC artifacts
Ensure a quality product is delivered through sufficient unit/integration testing and or system testing in coordination with the Quality Assurance team
Ensure written unit test cases are produced
Ensure written unit test results are captured
Ensure all objects are deployed to the test environments
Escalate concerns/risks to the Team Lead to collaborate on mitigation and communication strategy

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5 or more years of programming experience utilizing ILE RPG, to include Free Format, ILE concepts (service programs, procedures, binder language) and Embedded SQL in a business environment.
Experience working with relational databases.
Experience with iSeries change/release management packages (TurnOver preferred).
Vast knowledge of IBM iSeries command line functions and development tools including RDP/WDSC (preferred).
Good personal computer and business solutions software skills.
Analytical and problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of programs.
Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
Communication skills to work effectively with team members, support personnel, and clients.
Self-Motivated, enthusiastic, and driven to succeed.
Strong organization skills to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of timelines and budgets
Flexible in times of change and with work schedule during peak periods or high business demands.
Familiarity with the Model / View / Controller design pattern preferred
Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct

Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
Must be able to lift approximately 10-15 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job
Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
